  3. I really liked the debate because I liked seeing what other people had to say about their point of view. Also, for me, it was kind of hard to argue and get some good points because I didn't really support my point of view {British}.

  9. I thought the debate was interesting and it was a good way to help us study. It was very difficult to think of some good facts and comebacks against the other side. Some of the posters were really awesome and I have never felt so much power in my Social Studies class before, and I hope we can do it again!

    GREAT JOB 5th GRADE!!!!!!

  10. I think that the fifth grade did an awesome job.The only thing I thought that didn't go well was that every now and then one or both of the side s wouldn't have a very strong point in view, and why they want you to pay taxes or get rid of taxes.

  11. I'm so glad to hear/read that you enjoyed the debate! It was exciting for me to get to see a different side to my students as you used your knowledge and persuasive tactics to argue your point of view! I am sure we can find another good issue to debate this year, now that your debating skills have been broken in.

  13. I am always so impressed with the critical thinking that Mrs. Colcord's class shares when they work on their projects. They have done a really great job using logic and higher level thinking to persuade and share points of view. Thank you all for your hard work and effort. I can't wait to see some of you on the Senate floor someday!
Mrs. Kuras is really proud of you.

  14. I enjoyed the debate. I liked coming up with ideas on what to put on our posters. In my class, each side chose one person to represent each debate/sign. Then, if someone else wanted to say something, they stood up or raised their hand. After that, the representative could find out what they wanted to add. I think that was a good way to do the debate without a lot of noise.

  15. I think the debate was really cool. It was fun to come up with different ways to argue with the other country. I hope we do something like that again sometime soon!
